Wood Green, London Complete 6 Flats (405 sq.m.) House Renovation & Extension
Working with an existing end-terrace Victorian house, with an irregular shaped garden we secured permission in 2017 to completely renovate the existing property alongside construction of a new building in Wood Green.
Sat alongside a green park and near to the regenerated Tottenham football stadium the proposal responded to the site constraints with an angular contemporary building to contrast with the adjacent properties, with old and new linked together through a glazed gallery which provides access to the flats.

From an existing single house and the new build, the design creates six new flats (2 x 3-bedroom, 2 x 2-bedroom & 2 x 1-bedroom) that are affordable despite their bespoke design. The construction works, complicated by challenging access and limited storage, were completed in early 2019 with all of the flats being sold to a single housing provider.
The entrance for the ground floor flat in the new build is from the pavement, with the remaining flats accessed through the glass linking gallery. The existing house has been extensively re-modelled to provide for three of the flats, with the ground floor benefiting from the rear garden and the shared forecourt to the front. The communal gallery space provides natural light and protection from the elements.
