Arcola Street, E8

Hackney, London       Planning       37 Flats & Commercial Space       Mixed-Use Residential

The design for this new-build project replaces a former concrete precast 1950's government office building. The mixed-use scheme includes 37 high-quality apartments, varying from one to three bedrooms in a mix of affordable and private for sale above commercial space. The flats all benefit from private terraces or balconies and access to a roof garden with open-plan living, en-suite bathrooms, floor to ceiling windows and the latest in low energy fittings to give superb, desirable modern living.

The Brief

At ground floor, the scheme created 900 sq.m. of naturally lit, high specification, flexible commercial space at ground and lower ground levels with spill-out landscaped gardens.

Our client wanted to redevelop the site to provide a new high specification, low-energy building that would meet the local demand for good quality commercial space and affordable residential units. The blue/black brick facade is contrasted with coloured glass balconies and facing panels.
