Planning granted in record time for 'signature house' in Ealing
Crawford Partnership are delighted to receive planning permission from the London Borough of Ealing to utilise the site of an existing unused double garage to provide a self-build contemporary starter home.
The site is being developed to give our client’s son his first step on the housing ladder. The design of the two-storey, two-bedroom home has been carefully considered to maximise the internal space of the property whilst respecting the existing urban context of the site.
The new home will target PassiveHaus design standards, with modern methods of construction incorporating timber frame superstructure, high levels of insulation and triple glazing, and the inclusion of a solar photovoltaic array on the roof in addition to an air source heat pump providing all heating and hot water.
The planning department appreciated the simple aesthetic elements of the design incorporating grey elongated brick and charcoal coloured window frames and back painted glass panels with the front facade set behind a brick boundary wall capped with hedging to provide some defensible space.
The new house in Ealing will be the latest of our ‘signature houses’ that is a mainstay of our niche specialism of transforming brownfield and urban infill sites into contemporary homes.
Detailed design works are expected to start in December with works on site programmed to commence in May 2020.
