Planning submitted for the latest 'signature house' in Ealing

Crawford Partnership has just submitted a planning application for a proposal that seeks to convert an existing double garage into a contemporary first-time home. This would be the latest of our ‘signature houses’ within our niche specialism of transforming unused garages, brownfield and urban infill sites into contemporary homes, such as the award-winning Darling House.

The site in Ealing is being developed to give our client’s son his first step on the housing ladder. The design of the two-storey, two-bedroom home has been carefully considered to maximise the internal space of the property whilst respecting the existing context of the site. The use of elongated brick should provide a more horizontal feel to the design in addition to the textual qualities to enhance the urban grain of the design.

As well as considering the aesthetic elements of design to create a great first time home, we are also looking to make the home as environmentally sustainable as possible – targeting PassiveHaus design standards. This involves the inclusion of a solar photovoltaic array on the roof in addition to an air source heat pump.
