Fiona's internship with Crawford Partnership begins!

Fiona Poon started her 3 month internship with us in August as this year’s winner of the SBID Get Me 2 The Top 2019 student interior design competition, with SBID judges appreciating her originality of expression, individualism, and creative use of materials and presentation in her submission in the public space design category.

Crawford Partnership are delighted to participate with SBID by providing Fiona with the opportunity of a 3 month paid internship to further develop her relationship skills with industry colleagues in the interior design sector, and providing mentoring on the tools and advice she will need to kick-start her career whilst studying.

Fiona comments:

 Today, I was invited to join a breakfast meeting and seminar with Alan and the SBID, presented by Poggenpohl, a German kitchen cabinets company, at their new showroom in central London. I was so excited before the meeting, and apart from the refreshments and hospitality, it was fun meeting new people from the interior design world and networking! We grabbed a coffee and listened to the seminar, and I learned about their brilliant designs, then we had a brainstorming Q+A discussion with the participants asking about the future trends of kitchen style and finishes, as these go in and out of fashion quickly. Another designer raised concerns on the impact of the sun bleaching natural materials, and how long kitchens were built to last, etc.

 Things to learn as a designer is a diversity. So, it is always good to walk a thousand of miles instead of just reading a tower of books.
