Works on Pattison Road well underway

This unique design to transform an enclosed backland site in Barnet from a garage repair workshop into three high-quality contemporary houses. The project commenced on site in March, with an 18-month programme expected. The site contains numerous challenging constraints, including varying levels and limited site access and storage. The ground floor is, in effect, a basement across half of the site, meaning that there are two levels below ground. 

The existing building has been completely demolition and to date the entire perimeter of the site has been contiguously piled in preparation for the next phase of works which will see the installation of some temporary and permanent structure to enable the excavation of the site. This is an exciting project that Crawford Partnership has been working on for some time, so watch this space for updates!

FOUNDATIONS Perhaps not very glamorous, but the hidden essence behind the robustness of any building. Often this invisible component in the construction can be the most time consuming part of the overall build programme and also the most taxing in the impact on neighbours! Here on our project to construct 3 new build contemporary homes in North London all with large basements, it was necessary to first provide perimeter retaining walls around the entire site with over 250 concrete piles 350mm in diameter bored down 14 metres into the clay soil before excavation of the basements can commence. The next part of these foundations will be the casting of the concrete pile caps and ground beams.
